What are the 4 main Artificial Intelligence algorithms?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that focuses on the development of algorithms and systems that mimic human intelligence. In recent years, AI has advanced enormously and has revolutionized many aspects of everyday life, from online product recommendations to the automation of industrial processes.

Among the different AI algorithms, there are four main algorithms that are widely used: Association Algorithm, Classification Algorithm, Clustering Algorithm and Regression Algorithm.

1. Association Algorithm

The Association algorithm is a type of AI algorithm that is used to identify patterns and relationships in large data sets. These algorithms are widely used in online product and service recommendation, as they can analyze a user's purchase history and suggest related products that the user may be interested in purchasing.

Some examples of association algorithms on well-known platforms are Amazon or Netflix, for example. Amazon uses association algorithms to recommend related products to customers based on their previous purchases and online searches. Netflix uses association algorithms to recommend programs and movies to its users based on their viewing history and preferences.

2. Classification Algorithm

Classification Algorithm is a type of AI algorithm used to separate data into different categories or classes. These algorithms are used in a wide variety of applications, from email spam detection to image and video classification.

This algorithm can be found in many tools that we use in our daily lives, such as Gmail, which uses sorting algorithms to classify emails into different categories such as spam, social, promotions, etc. Twitter uses sorting algorithms to sort tweets into different categories such as news, entertainment, sports... or LinkedIn, for example, uses sorting algorithms to sort professional profiles into different categories such as engineering, finance, marketing, etc.

3. Clustering Algorithm o clustering

Clustering Algorithm is a type of AI algorithm used to group similar data into groups or clusters. These algorithms are widely used in market segmentation and personalization of the online user experience.

As an example we have several well-known platforms: Spotify uses clustering algorithms to group similar songs into personalized playlists for its users. Google Photos uses grouping algorithms to group similar photos into automatic albums for its users and Facebook also groups audiences and shows you the most suitable one without telling you when you create an ad campaign on its platform.

4. Regression Algorithm

Finally, Regression Algorithm is a type of AI algorithm used to predict future outcomes based on historical data. These algorithms are used in a wide variety of applications, from predicting the price of an asset in the stock market to forecasting weather and estimating product demand.

We can find examples of this algorithm in tools or platforms such as Google AdWords, which uses regression algorithms to predict the performance of an advertising campaign based on different variables, Uber uses regression algorithms to predict the demand and supply of rides in different geographic areas and times of day, and Apple's Siri uses regression algorithms to predict the actions a user is likely to want to perform on their device, such as sending a message, making a call, scheduling an event, etc.
